School-Based Tuition Assistance

Most San Antonio private schools offer their own aid, sibling discounts, church-member rates or work-study, and these stack with TEFA.

Under the Comptroller's tuition guidelines, a school can't charge TEFA families a different tuition, and it has to keep applying general discounts such as sibling, employee and parishioner rates. It may weigh the TEFA award when it decides need-based aid.

Several San Antonio schools reported discounts or scholarships to the state finder. Where they did, we show them on the school's page.

Ask every school three questions. Do you take TEFA? Which fees can come from the account? What aid is there for the balance?

Combining it with other sources

School-Based Tuition Assistance can usually be combined with the school's own aid and at least one other source listed here. The funding check maps the full combination for your child.
