This program covers what TEFA leaves out. Before- and after-school care isn't a TEFA expense, but a family can use child care assistance for it at a participating provider.
Many church preschools and private schools' early-childhood programs take both. Ask your provider whether it accepts child care assistance and whether it holds a Texas Rising Star rating. The rating also helps a provider qualify for TEFA pre-K.
Applications go through the state's child care portal and are processed by Workforce Solutions Alamo. There can be a waitlist.
Combining it with other sources
Child Care Assistance (Workforce Solutions Alamo) can usually be combined with the school's own aid and at least one other source listed here. The funding check maps the full combination for your child.
